With only a few days to go before the super cheap early bird tickets become a thing of the past, Audioriver is taking this opportunity to remind everyone out there why the event has become one of the premiere electronic dance music festivals in Europe. With that said, we would like to present to you a highly enticing and explosive cocktail made up of not only easily recognizable names, but also some that are new to the scene. Oh, and let's not forget about those that are just outright mysterious. Thus, without further ado, Way Out West Soundsystem, Sub Focus, Four Tet live, Christian Smith, Plastician, Starkey, Oni Ayhun live, Jakes, Silence Family live, as well as Dandy Jack will all make appearances on the picturesque beach this August.
Where to start? Well, Nick Warren and Jody Wisternoff, aka legendary duo Way Out West, seem like a good place. With a slew of seminal albums (including last year's acclaimed 'We Love Machine' ) and timeless singles such as 'Mindcircus' and 'Anything But You' under their belts, WOW have undoubtedly had an enormous impact on the electronic dance music scene over the years, making them the perfect choice for a spot on the bill for AR '10.
Four Tet, too, has on more than one occasion shared his uncanny musical talents with the world. His impressive artistic resume includes no fewer than a handful of LPs, the last being the very well received, by both fans and critics, 'There Is Love In You'. But that's not all that can be said about the artist in question. Notable releases such as his LateNightTales and DJ Kicks compilations, an uncountable number of remixes and his EP produced in collaboration with none other than Burial himself have gone even further in cementing the artist's place among the cream of the electronic music crop.
Need more? How about Sub Focus, who with his highly explosive take on drum & bass captured the minds of electronic music fans the world over to such an extent that his Essential Mix was voted the best installment in the series in 2009? Likewise, Christian Smith is a master of both spinning and creating highly danceable yet intelligent tracks, something that he has proven time and time again as both a DJ and as co-producer of such classic club monsters as 'Total Departure'.
Moving on, it would simply be rude not to provide the dubstep and grime artists that will feature on this year's bill with a paragraph of their own. Showcased over two nights, as opposed to one last year, the bass music genre will be represented at Audioriver 2010 by such stalwarts as Plastician (the artist formerly known as Plasticman), and the Philly-based bass music innovator Starkey, who this past Monday released his second LP. The renowned for both his studio skills as well as his MC talents Jakes will also be playing a DJ set in Plock this year, making this his second trip at the beach, as in 2007 he made an appearance in Plock as an MC.
And let's not forget about dessert in the form of a number of artists that have yet to receive a high amount of recognition in Poland. “The best possible reward for us as organizers of Audioriver is when people discover something new at our festival. We have always tried our best to bring fresh and yet to hit the big time artists to the beach, and this year is no exception, as we can now proudly announce that the super mysterious Oni Ayhun will be on the bill. What makes this artists so mysterious? To be frank, we actually have no idea whether Ayhun is a he or she, nor do we know where exactly Ayhun is from. We have also booked one of the true unsung heroes of the international techno scene, namely Dandy Jack, as well as one of Lithuainia's best electronic music acts, Silence Family. The 7-piece act comprises, among others, of Leon Somov and Jazzu, who won an award at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2009, as well as Few Nolder, who stormed onto the scene with his fantastic album entitled 'New Folder'. But that, of course, is not all that is in store for the Audioriver faithful. More names will be announced in May, so stay tuned!”, says Lukasz Napora, Audioriver Spokesperson.
Early bird tickets (70 pln) will only be available until April 30th. After that, advance tickets will cost 100 pln until August 1st.
